Car Window Tinting Regulations

Film Pacific reminds both consumers and tinters alike that illegal window tinting will result in vehicles being marked as unroadworthy.

Victoria Police recently launched 'Operation Clear View', to check tinting levels in response to a number of motor accidents said to have been caused due to excessive levels of tinting.

As stated by VicRoads, the current legislation for window tinting is:

"All windows of a motor vehicle, other than windscreens, available to the driver to obtain a view of the road or other road users must have a light transmittance of at least 35%. However it is desirable that the light transmittance of windows to the side and ahead of the driver is not reduced below 70%."

Film Pacific reminds consumers that any VLT below 35% (with a variance of up to 4%) can and will result in your vehicle being classed as unroadworthy.
